NATIONAL CELEBRATION OF LITERACY 2010 -Prize Draw -TERMS AND CONDITIONS

This lucky draw for participation in the National Celebration of Literacy is conducted by the Australian Literacy Educators’ Association (ALEA)

situated at 416 Magill Road, Kensington Gardens, South Australia (‘the Organisers’) on behalf of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (‘DEEWR’) as part of National Literacy and Numeracy Week (NLNW) 2010.

The Australian Government, through DEEWR, is committed to promoting the importance of literacy and numeracy to Australian school students. 

Run in conjunction with state and territory governments, NLNW is an Australian Government initiative which celebrates literacy and numeracy achievement in schools and the wider community. 

NLNW 2010 will be held between 29 August and 4 September.  The thirty prizes being offered for this lucky draw are as follows, and will be drawn in the order listed:

1.    Ten (10) multimedia and DVD games packs provided by Eureka Multimedia, including unlimited licences to enable uploading of the games onto the schools’ computers.  Recommended retail price valued up to $2,500.00 per pack.  The ten (10) packs will be distributed as follows:
•    Five primary schools will each receive ‘Maths Skills Builder’, ‘Spelling Skills Builder’ and ‘Kids’ Fun Games’
•    Five high schools will each receive ‘High School Maths Practice’.
2.    Five (5) packs of 10 Macquarie Electronic Dictionaries provided by Franklin Electronics, recommended retail price $1,299.50 per pack
3.    Five (5) packs provided by Australia Post, each consisting of 10 Postie Kate activity books, 10 Stamp of Australia books and 20 Australia Post branded key ring torches, recommended retail price $820 per pack
4.    One (1) book library provided by Walker Books, recommended retail price $750.00
5.    Three (3) packs, each consisting of 500 Paper Mate pens, provided by Paper Mate, recommended retail price $567 per pack
6.    Four (4) packs of 10 books written and signed by the 2010 NLNW Literacy Ambassador, Deborah Abela, provided by Random House.  Recommended retail price $162.50 per pack.  Each pack will include: Max Remy Superspy, The Remarkable Secret of Aurelie Bonhoffen, and Grimsdon
7.    Two (2) book vouchers for the AATE/ALEA Bookstore, to the value of $100 each, provided by the Australian Literacy Educators’ Association and the Australian Association for the Teaching of English.

This lucky draw is subject to the following terms and conditions:

1.    Entry is open to all schools in Australia.
2.    One entry per school will be included in the draw.
3.    To be eligible for the competition, schools must complete in full the online participation survey on this website (www.celebrationofliteracy.net.au) by 10pm Friday, 10 September 2010 (AEST). The online form will be available from 23 August 2010.
4.    The Organisers will not accept responsibility for entries that have been submitted, but have not been received by the Organisers.
5.    The winners of the lucky draw will be determined by a random draw to be held at 11.00 am on Wednesday, 15 September 2010 at the office of ALEA, English House, 416 Magill Road, Kensington Gardens  SA  5068.
6.    The winners of the lucky draw will be notified by an email message on Friday, 17 September 2010 to the email address supplied on the online participation form.
7.    The winners of the lucky draw must reply to the email message by 5pm AEDT, Wednesday, 15 December 2010 to claim their prize.  If unclaimed after this time, there will be a redraw.
8.    If required, a redraw for any unclaimed prizes will be held on Friday, 17 December 2010 at the office of ALEA, English House, 416 Magill Road, Kensington Gardens  SA  5068.
9.    The redraw for any unclaimed prize will be conducted amongst eligible schools from the same state or territory as the school whose prize was unclaimed.
10.    The thirty prizes will be allocated across eight states and territories in the following way:
a.    Once four schools in a state or territory have been allocated prizes, that state or territory becomes ineligible for subsequent draws; or
b.    Once a state or territory has been allocated $5,000 in prizes, that state or territory becomes ineligible for subsequent draws
whichever occurs first.
11.    Prizes are limited to one prize per school.
12.    Winners are limited to no more than four schools in any one state or territory.
13.    Prizes cannot be transferred or divided.  Prizes cannot be redeemed for cash.
14.    The name and postcode of the winning schools will be published on the website (www.celebrationofliteracy.net.au) on or before Wednesday, 29 September 2010.
15.    Prizes will be dispatched to schools by NLNW 2010 sponsor Australia Post. DEEWR takes no responsibility for the delivery of prizes.

17.    Persons under the age of 18 years are ineligible to enter.
18.    Subject to approval from regulatory authorities, DEEWR may impose any other terms and conditions on the lucky draw.
